Sandpit 1 – ‘Diagnosis and Monitoring’ 29.04.26 University of Birmingham
The BreatHE IN Network invited researchers, practitioners, industry partners and community stakeholders to register to attend our first sandpit event with 75 attendees.
Submission of a short research interest declaration, alongside attendance at the sandpit, was a required first step towards applying for feasibility study funding (projects up to £72k FEC). The sandpit provided an opportunity to build cross-disciplinary collaborations and enhance depth and quality of research ideas prior to funding applications. Members of the public were also present to give invaluable insight into their thoughts on the funding ideas.
Deadline to apply for feasibility study funding is 7th June 2026.

Roundtable 1 – Webinar 30.01.26
Air quality is one of today’s most pressing public health challenges, yet its impacts, especially indoors, are complex and often underestimated. In schools, children’s exposure depends not only on outdoor pollution, but also on building materials, furniture, ventilation, paints, and everyday user habits.
In this webinar, Associate Professor María del Mar Barbero Barrera presented the Lime4Health project, a three-year study carried out in four primary schools in Madrid and Rivas-Vaciamadrid (Spain). The project combines indoor and outdoor monitoring of abiotic and biotic pollutants with assessments of indoor paints and occupants’ habits and evaluates their influence on children’s health using questionnaires and urine samples.
